Mobile shopping

Did you know that up to a third of consumers want to be able to scan products in-store via their mobile device, and only 17% of retailers offer this option? Nowadays, modern technologies are becoming an integral part of our lives. Shopping via a mobile phone is one of the modern technologies that consumers are increasingly interested in.Merchants are not able to meet the increasing demands of consumers, so it is imperative that they constantly work and develop the field of mobile shopping practice.

Accenture published the results of a survey called “Accenture Adaptive Retail”, which was carried out on a sample of 10,000 customers from 13 countries (DE, FR, IT, ES, UK, SE, US, CA, JP, MX, BR, CN, ZAF ). The comparative study was focused on 162 distributors from different industries.

The survey revealed that up to 32% of consumers want to be able to scan products in-store via their mobile device, but only 17% of retailers actually offer them this option.

While 42% of shoppers would like to receive coupons and discounts automatically on their mobile phone, only 16% of retailers are able to provide the service.

The survey also points out that the number of consumers who want to order goods that are not currently in the store is increasing. Some trading companies responded to the increased interest of customers. Almost half of companies (46%) employ staff to order goods for customers, but only 9% of companies offer an in-store terminal that allows the consumer to complete the order themselves.

The conclusion presented by Accenture research representatives is as follows: “Given the potential of the m-commerce market, investments in services related to sales via mobile are becoming a priority for retailers who use technology to better understand consumer expectations in real time.”
